Why is Swimming with Wild Dolphins in Mauritius an Early Morning Activity?

You’ll notice that when you book a Mauritius Swimming with Wild Dolphins Excursion your pickup time will be early: typically between 5:45am and 7am (or a meeting time of 7:30am if you have your own transportation). That’s quite early, especially if you’re on vacation! Why is this the case?

 

The dolphins are far more active near the coast of Mauritius in the early morning, than any other time of day. It is possible to spot dolphins off of the coast throughout the day, however, the chances are greatly improved in the early morning, when the dolphins typically feed in the fertile waters just off the the west coast of the island. 

If you’re not a morning person, don’t sweat it! Swimming with wild dolphins typically ends around 10am or 10:30am, when you can head back to your hotel for a siesta, before the rest of your day!
